Collins’ Farm Compost Heat Recovery Open House and Tour

March 29, 2018

Join us for an open house and tour.

The Collins Powder Hill Dairy Farm will host an open house and tour on March 29 to unveil Connecticut’s first compost heat recovery system, a renewable energy project facilitated by the CT Farm Energy program. The dairy farm implemented Compost Aeration and Heat Recovery using the Agrilab Technologies’ Hot Skid 250R. The unit consists of mechanical aeration, heat recovery, plumbing, monitoring, and control components along with the site improvements of a compacted working pad, concrete push wall and insulated ductwork. The project was made possible by funds from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and the U.S. Department of Energy.
